Germany has always been at the heart of the European intellectual tradition and is now the driving force of its economy and the EU. German Studies at Warwick will explore the extraordinary breadth and depth of German language and culture in collaboration with recognised experts in the field. Intensive language work from advanced level opens the richness of German language and cultural life. Combining German with Portuguese aims to prepare students to graduate as highly qualified linguists with a deep understanding of key issues and developments in Germany’s past and present and advanced intercultural skills, so graduates can compare and move between languages and cultures. A quarter of the time throughout this programme will be spent on Portuguese and students will spend their second or third year abroad.
