The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Sports Ethics and Integrity is a world leading multidisciplinary programme delivered by a faculty of high-level scholars from six universities. It equips students from around the globe for careers in sports administration. Students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in sports ethics, law and governance to preserve and promote sport integrity in national and international contexts.

Students are trained to identify ethical issues, engage in ethical thinking, and translate decisions into ethical actions – the three core skills required to develop the sports integrity indispensable for addressing the ethical and integrity issues facing national and international sporting federations. The programme focuses on topics such as anti-doping, anti-discrimination, fair play, global sports governance, gambling, match-fixing and sport manipulation, safeguarding, Youth Olympics, Olympism and Paralympism.

During the first semester of the first year, students will be based at KU Leuven. The second semester will be completed at Charles University (Prague). In the second year, students complete the first semester at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität (Mainz) or Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). The last semester is completed at one of the Consortium University partners, depending on the students' thesis specialism. At the end of the first and second year, students will attend the summer school run by the University of Peloponnese, focusing on Research Methods and Olympic Studies.

Entry requirements:

The Erasmus Mundus MA in Sports Ethics and Integrity (MAiSI) requires successful applicants to hold a Bachelor’s degree. Due to the inter-disciplinary nature of the course we will consider applications from any degree discipline. Degree subject areas of particular relevance to the Masters in Sports Ethics and Integrity are Business, Management, Disability Studies, Ethics, Governance, History, Law, Philosophy, Social Sciences, Sports and Exercise Sciences. However, this is not an exhaustive list.

Additionally, as part of their submission, applicants to the MAiSI programme must provide proof or documentation of at least 12 months of study beyond bachelor degree level that has led to a recognized degree or diploma (Masters Degree or Advanced Diploma); or 12 months of substantial engagement with sport, providing significant experience relevant to the MAiSI programme.

Proof of substantial engagement with sport might be one or more internships, a period of employment (in sport clubs/federations, organizations, businesses or similar), coaching experience, a career as an elite athlete, or other demonstrable involvement.

Language requirements:

All applicants who have not obtained a previous diploma in a programme taught in English in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America must submit a certificate proving their proficiency in English.
