In this English-taught Master's programme, you will learn how to develop and implement multilingual communication from a global and multicultural perspective in companies and organisations. The focus is on communication in cross-cultural settings: you will discover how communication runs between cultures and in organisations harbouring several cultures. You will also become an expert in a wide range of communicative genres in English, such as debating, negotiating and handling press relations.

To prepare the ground for your own exploration of cross-cultural communication, a general cluster of courses offers you a number of in-depth insights into multilingualism and cross-cultural communication in general as well as in organisations. Within this cluster, you also familiarise yourself with "International stakeholder management and international relations" and with "Digital tools for (multilingual) organisations".

In a domain-specific methodology course, you will take a selection of modules introducing you to methodological frameworks that are useful both for your master's thesis project and in business practice.

The central component of this graduate programme is an in-depth training in communication skills for English and one other language (Dutch, French, German, Spanish). You will learn to debate, negotiate, and write texts for online and social media, always paying special attention to multilingual and cross-cultural settings.

In addition, you will focus on one specific global region – Africa, Asia, Middle East, Eastern Europe or South America – which you will look at from a broader European perspective. In a case study, you will take on the role of researcher or facilitator of intercultural dialogue (in fieldwork, interviews ...) and a central forum will bring all regions and perspectives together to reflect on globalisation and cross-cultural communication through guest lectures, testimonials, and visits to organisations or companies.

Finally, an (observational) internship in an international (profit or non-profit) organisation offers you the opportunity to apply the insights and skills that you have acquired throughout the programme.
