In the Bachelor's degree program in Russian Studies, you learn the Russian language and gain in-depth knowledge of the social conditions, culture, and history of Russia and the surrounding countries in the region. The majority of the teaching focuses on recent times, the 20th-21st centuries, and current developments in Russia today. You start with a preparatory course – beginner's language – where you build the language skills that you will need during the rest of your education. The rest of the teaching in the program is conducted in both Danish and English. An interest in both language and the world around you is therefore an advantage.

A semester abroad
Unless special circumstances apply, the 4th semester teaching takes place in a Russian-language program in Riga. The stay abroad gives you the opportunity for intensive language instruction, training in your communication and interaction in a Russian-speaking environment. You will also be introduced to fieldwork, e.g. through interviews with Russian-speaking young people.
Everyday life at Russian Studies
Teaching on the Bachelor's degree programme in Russian Studies is mostly done in group settings. Here you will actively participate in discussions, give presentations, solve assignments and work with texts. You must be prepared to work independently on in-depth, individual topics and to work in study groups to prepare for the teaching. In addition, language teaching is also an important part of everyday study. You must learn the Russian language quickly and at a high level, and you can expect to spend several hours a day with various language exercises. Language teaching also takes place in groups, but an equally large part of the learning takes place through individual preparation or together with fellow students. The classes are often small, so you will find that the teaching is personal and focused.
Russian Studies in a Global World
Many of the courses in the program deal with Russian affairs in a global context, and it would therefore be an obvious choice to continue your studies on the Master's program in Global Area Studies. The program will enable you to utilize your expert knowledge of Russia and its surrounding area, as well as your linguistic skills, in a world of increased global interaction and growing cross-regional development.
